My daughter is almost 14 months and all she ever wants to do is RUN RUN RUN. I was wondering if she would use a playhouse, sand box, water table, picnic table, slide, etc. yet or if she is still “too young”?

  • Dalton's Mommy & Kaiah due 2:

I would do the Playhouse and a slide. Definitely not the sand box (not yet anyway)

I bought a lot of 2nd hand items off of Craigslist, etc. so I started when she was about 6 months and she used some this summer (she turned 1 in the spring) like the outdoor swing by little tikes, slide by little tikes, a couple different pools (we also use as ball pits). She has a couple picnic tables, 1 small 1 a little bigger.

And we have a bigger outdoor play house that has a slide, tunnel, bridge, etc. so she can start using next year. It was used; brand new, $ 600; used, $ 50. In like new condition! Outdoor play equipment is pretty expensive brand new. I really push you to look for 2nd hand items.

I really like Step 2 and Little tikes outdoor play equipment. It might fade a little, but it’s so durable

14 months is a great time to start, though she will love those toys even more as she gets closer to 1 1/2 and 2. My son, 18 months now, loved his water table all summer. Now it’s a sand table, and he isn’t quite as into it for some reason. LOVES his slide, loves pushing around his popcorn popper toy outside, pulling a wagon that he fills with toys, and getting me to blow bubbles for him. He has a kiddie pool that we fill with plastic balls as a ball pit, and that’s a big hit too. Just some suggestions!

i got my son a wagon for his first birthday and we will be getting him a sandbox this year…he is 17 mos…i think 1yr+ is the perfect time
    good luck to you

You can start at any age. However, they will reap the educational benefits at around 2 years old. As long as you keep your child under strict supervision it is good to introduce them to outdoor toys and play with them. Kids Wagons are fun for storing toys and moving around the yard.
